Outta Sight” aka “Pony”, 2017 16.1h chestnut gelding
Located at Finger Lakes Race Track, Farmington, NY (near Rochester)
This solid bodied unraced young guy is a beautiful light and lofty mover who we think can excel in many new careers — he has the laid back attitude to be a show hunter, the sport horse pedigree to be aimed at eventing or dressage, and he is used as a track pony in western tack and his trainer thinks he would make a great western dressage or trail or pleasure horse. He has solid bone, a strong hind end, good angles, and a balanced build. He already has the body of a non-race horse, and needs no let down time off the track. He is not registered or tattooed, and he has never had any published track workouts, due to a previous owner who was retiring from racing. His current connections use him to pony young horses that they are starting, and he is also used as an outrider horse in the mornings on the training track. Both of these jobs require an unflappable horse who takes everything in stride. His connections refer to him by two nicknames — “Pony” because that is what he does for them, and “Outta Sight” because his stall is down at the end of their shed row past their stalls. They report that Pony is a friendly horse, easy to handle, and lovely to ride. He does his track pony work in a western saddle, and he has learned to neck rein; over the past winter he accompanied his track connections to Florida and he was ridden on trail rides. They report that Pony has always been sound for the entire time they have had him. They are offering this lovely young gelding to a non track home where he can enjoy a new career because they are not likely to have enough for him to do over the winter, and they think he has too much potential to just sit around with them. His sire comes from Deputy Minister and Blushing Groom lines, and his dam is by Catienus, who has sired several successful show hunters, jumpers, and eventers.
