Pepe was listed with us last year when he was still racing and , when he didn’t sell, his owner turned him in to her track pony. Pepe works in the morning ponying horses during training and he works the races in the afternoons taking his charges to post. Alas, as good as he is as a track pony, this hardworking guy doesn’t like horses pushing on him and getting jumped on by the rowdy ones, so his doting owner would like for him to find a new career. Pepe was so friendly and laid back that he caused a few giggles by the entourage of people around him while he tried to figure out who had the peppermints! Pepe is said to love attention and we observed a personable gelding who could have held court with us all morning. He is currently barefoot, is sound, is built like a tank and we think he would be a perfect partner for someone looking for a trusty hacker although we bet he could excel at just about anything. Pepe has been a very good racehorse with 6 wins out of 54 starts and enough in the money finishes to make him an asset in the racing shedrow.
