Powerful Boy, 2016, 15.3, bay gelding

Located at Finger Lakes Race Track  Farmington, NY (near Rochester).
Powerful Boy was definitely “feeling his oats” on this cool, windy day, but we can hardly blame him for that! The person who regularly ponies him to the track in the morning and afternoon reports, however,  that he is completely relaxed on the track and an easy one to pony.  She says he is very  straightforward with no buck or bolt.  According to his trainer, he has no vices or bad habits. He’s reported to be an easy keeper that really enjoys eating!  His trainer reported that he did have a strained tendon but was given the time to heal properly and has since raced on it, with 8 starts this year. He has a strong sloping shoulder and well proportioned, balanced, solid boned and compact build.  He showed lofty and powerful movement, with suspension. This guy struck our volunteers as an excellent prospect for evening,  but  he could go in any direction with his lofty movement. He showed us a long, sweeping walk and loads of suspension at the trot.  He had a timed workout only 5 days before we photographed him, and he showed no ill effects from that exertion. Powerful Boy is by Boys at Tosconova, who is by Officer, from the Bertrando/ Relaunch branch of the In Reality sire line.  Boys at Toscanova offspring tend to be very athletic, forward, and eager workers.  His dam Mill Power by Boone’s Mill, who is by Carson City out of a Secretariat mare.  We placed another of Mill Power’s sons, Powerful Boy’s older half brother, a few years ago, and he is succeeding in an eventing career.  Powerful Boy is lightly raced, with 9 starts, one win, two seconds, and a third.
