Queen’s Gambit, 2012 15 1/2h grey mare

Grey lovers, here is a  beautiful, sweet, sound mare for you! This solid bodied sweetheart has only 4 starts, and never showed any aptitude for racing, but she has all the potential in the world for many other disciplines, from children’s hunter, to barrels, to polo, to pleasure.  She last raced in 2016, and was in race training in 2017, which makes her still eligible for the RRP.  She is a much loved homebred, so you will be able to get her whole history from her owner/trainer.  Since leaving the track last year, she has been turned out at the owner’s small farm, babysitting young horses who are now in race training, so it is time to find her a new job.  She is great in turn out with other horses.  She has a big barrel and solid build, and will take up leg, so despite her small size (we tape measured her at 15 hands and a half inch) we think she will fit many sized riders.  Her owner says she is very good to handle, quiet and well behaved. He thinks she will be suitable for a kid or young teen who is working with a trainer who knows how to start OTTBs for new disciplines.  She is barefoot, and has good feet. She jogged politely on hard pavement and showed very nice movement. She has an excellent pedigree for sport/jumping disciplines. She is by Frost Giant, who is a son of Giant’s Causeway out of a Gone West mare.  Her dam is by Rizzi, and she has Spectacular Bid, Pleasant Colony, and Sir Ivor in her pedigree.
A very good home is essential, and references will be checked.
