Rose Candy 2015, 15.3h, bay filly

We discovered this ladylike filly (ironically) does not take candy from strangers! But we still found her to be sweet, quiet and very charming. Her groom is immensely fond of her and told us that Rosie loves being brushed and kissed. This sweet filly was listed by FLF last year (2018) but was ultimately retained for racing. She has a nice, solid build and is well put together- we saw a long shoulder, pretty face and neck, and solid bone. X-rays taken last year revealed a small knee chip in the upper joint. She was rehabbed at the owner’s farm and returned to racing, winning races since then. We’re told that she is a hard tryer who, “will run her little eyeballs out”. She began her racing career at Churchill Downs and is well-travelled. In her 27 starts, she’s earned almost $55,000 and has a 2-8-1 record. She’s had a full dance card of racing this meet and had last run only two days prior to our visit; we observed she was not moving well, so we did not take or post any new video of her (although you can watch video from last year). She’s got some great sports lineage. By Sidney’s Candy (bringing in Crytopclearance and Storm Cat bloodlines) and out of a Corinthian mare (with Pulpit / AP Indy and Buckpasser lineage). Her trainer previously reported that she is good in turnout.  If not placed, she will winter at her owner’s farm. But we believe that she would clearly benefit from turnout, R&R and a switch to a less strenuous career where she is likely to be a very sweet, willing and hard-working partner for you in whatever you ask her to do.
