Salsa Dog, 2012, 16.1h, bay gelding – retained for racing

This handsome guy impressed us with his excellent balanced conformation and very good movement. His photos taken on a windy rainy day with drops obscuring the camera do not do him justice — in person he captured our volunteers’ attention as an outstanding prospect for sporting disciplines, ranging from show hunter to eventing or dressage, and we think he is a “must see!” And he is as sweet and quiet as they come! While it was windy and raining, he stood like a gentleman for his photos and jogged quietly. This friendly guy demonstrated a nice reaching walk and lovely light toe pointing trot! He has no vices and is reported sound with clean legs. But he is ready to move on to a new career because the majority of his 5 wins and 12 additional placings have come on the synthetic track surface at Presque Isle, which is done for the season, and he has not been performing as well on the hard dirt surface at Finger Lakes. Salsa Dog has unlimited potential for any new discipline. He is by Two Step Salsa, a son of Petionville from the Seeking the Gold sire line. His dam Homesteader is by Pioneering, out of a mare from the Vice Regent/Northern Dancer sire line. Just because he is a plain bay, do not overlook this one — he is an outstanding prospect!
