Salsa River Girl, 2015, 15.3 bay filly

Located at a farm very close to the Finger Lakes Race Track, Farmington, NY (near Rochester). The beautiful Salsa River Girl is a trainer and FLF volunteer favorite, and we think she is the bargain steal of the season! Friendly, inquisitive, intelligent, sweet and cuddly in her stall, quiet and well behaved — these are the raves that her trainer says about her! Salsa is described as sound, with no vices. And she is a very good mover, with a light lofty ground covering trot that shows her athleticism. With her deep girth, strong shoulder, good bone, great movement, and an exceptional sport horse pedigree, we think she is an outstanding eventing, dressage, or H/J prospect. She is likely to grow a bit more, but she’s got plenty of substance to take up the leg of taller riders. While Salsa won a couple of races last year, this year she was letting her trainer know that her heart was no longer in the racing game. She has been hanging out on a farm very close to the track for a couple of months, so she is already completely let down and ready to restart — and she is fully eligible for the 2020 RRP. Her sire is Two Step Salsa, who is gaining a reputation as a sire of good brained horses who are good jumpers and movers. He is from Seeking the Gold, Wavering Monarch, Seattle Slew and Storm Bird lines — all great sport lines. Salsa River Girl’s dam is by Champali, from the Dewan branch of the Bold Ruler line with Dixieland Band close up. Her second dam is by Northern Jove, who is a renowned sire of jumpers. For all that this filly has to offer as an exciting sport horse prospect, her bargain price should seal the deal!
