Santonio D’Oro, 2009 15.2+h dark bay (black) gelding with chrome

This stunning black son of super sire Medaglia D’Oro  had our volunteers oohing and aahing over his velvety coat and big flashy white blaze, and wishing we could just take him home with us!  He has a very classy presence about him, not surprising given his regal pedigree. He is a half brother to Red Vine, who ran third in this year’s Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile, and his second dam is a stakes winner and graded stakes producer.  Medaglia D’Oro is not only a top race horse sire (he is Rachel Alexandra’s sire), but is also much sought after in the sport horse world, since he is from the Sadler’s Wells sire line, out of a mare from the Damascus and Prince John lines — excellent jump sire lines!  Santonio D’Oro impressed us with very nice show hunter movement, and as we asked his handler to move faster, Santonio got to stride out and flick his toes, showing lightness and suspension.  He is very solid bodied, and will take up a lot more leg than his wither height might indicate — we think this little horse will “ride big!” He has clean legs, he is described as sound and good to handle, and he certainly acted like a perfect gentleman for his photo session.  If you are looking for a fancy show hunter/jumper or dressage prospect, we think you should jump all over Santonio D’Oro!
