Scarlett Jo Hansen, 2014 15.3h grey/roan filly

She is as pretty as her actress namesake, and this stunning filly is also a beautiful floaty mover.  Scarlett is a daughter of Hansen (a son of Tapit) and she sold for $100,000 as a two year old.  While she has three wins in 14 starts,  including two this year, she runs best on the synthetic surface at Presque Isle, and she does not care for the hard dirt surface at Finger Lakes. Since Presque Isle’s racing season is wrapping up for this year, her trainer has decided it is time to let her move on to a new career.  With her correct solid bodied conformation, beautiful head, eye catching color, and light floaty trot, we think she can turn heads in the show hunter ring.  She has a half brother out of the same dam who is a stakes winning steeplechaser, so good jumping genes are obviously in her family.  But she can also shine in any career direction you want to take her in.  The assistant trainer, who is the contact person, says that Scarlett is sound (she had already been done up in wraps by the time we got to her barn, and we did not want to bother the busy grooms to take off her wraps and have to do her up all over again.) She also reports that Scarlett is a good girl to handle and work with, who has no vices. We observed a perfectly behaved polite filly for her photo session who jogged quietly on a loose lead. She displayed light flat kneed movement with flowing reach from her shoulders.  We also watched videos of her winning races, and observed a lovely fluid canter with an easy rhythm, as she came back to the winner’s circle.  Scarlett comes from one of the best female families in the US stud book, so she also has excellent broodmare value.  Her dam is a half sister to 2 major Grade 1 stakes winners. Her third dam, Alluvial, produced champion and Hall of Fame member Slew O’Gold and Belmont winner Coastal.
