This was our first subject of the morning and both volunteers were very impressed with this incredible hardknocker. Out of 81 starts, he has amassed 17 wins, 9 seconds and 13 thirds: wow!!
Shilah has tailed off in his 10th year and he has nothing at all to prove on the racetrack. A well-traveled man, he has run at many racetracks including Remington Park and Churchill Downs. His age, clean legs and remarkable race record should dispel any reluctance about his durability. He showed fluid movement with cadence and suspension that reflects his soundness and suitability for just about any sporting discipline.
Horses like Shilah are gems for so many reasons, not the least of which is his experience and “wisdom”. His trainer summed it up by saying “this horse doesn’t do anything wrong!”
