Sisella 2014 15.3 bay filly — retained for racing

Although we had to rush our photo session with Sisella due to a freezing downpour that neither horse nor human wanted to be out in, she was amazingly tolerant and well behaved considering the conditions. She was friendly and alert and her handler says she is a good girl to work with. We admired her solid bodied compact build and pretty head. Sisella has been a good consistent race horse, with four wins and thirteen top three finishes in her 27 starts. After some of her most recent races, she started showing soreness in her knee for a few days after a race, so her trainer has realized that now that the Finger Lakes racing season is ending it is time to let her move on to a new career. Her trainer has not done any diagnostic work on her knee, but her handler told us that she has been racing competitively, including at the allowance level despite the brief soreness periods after a race. Sisella’s groom said that she was confident that all the filly needed was some rest from racing, and then she would be fine for many new careers. For her jog video, she showed a big strided trot with good reach from the shoulders and good engagement from behind, even though her handler was rushing in order to get it over with and out of the horrible weather. Sisella is by Boys at Toscanova, a young sire from the Bertrando/Relaunch sire line who is siring big hearted horses with a lot of try and athletic ability. Her dam is by Golden Missile, a son of AP Indy, out of a mare form the Deputy Minister sire line. Sisella is offered at a bargain price, and we think that if you step up for her and give her some time to enjoy being a horse, you will be rewarded with a great partner for many new disciplines.
