Smart News, 2014 16h bay gelding

While we were waiting for the trainer, we stood outside a stall admiring a very cute and friendly horse who was begging for our attention.  So we were delighted when he turned out to be the one that the trainer brought out for us to list!  Smart News is a homebred, so you can get his entire history from his owner/trainer. He has had only one race, in which he happily and slowly galloped along well at the rear of the field — so racing is obviously not his game.  He is described as very sound, and his legs are very clean.  He made quite the impression on us with his shiny coat, good bone, well put together frame and nice topline. He showed very good fluid movement for his jog video. The trainer says he is good to work with and has no vices, but he can sometimes be a “good feeling” guy, so she recommends an intermediate to experienced rider. Smart News’s half brother (same dam) was placed through FLF a couple of years ago, and he is doing well in a new jumping career.  We think that Smart News has the same potential — with his pretty looks and lovely movement we can see him as a show hunter, or doing dressage and eventing. He has an excellent pedigree for sport. His sire, Smart Bid, is by Smart Strike out of a Danzig mare. His dam News Channel is by Touch Gold, from Deputy Minister and Buckpasser lines, and his dam is out of a Cherokee Run mare from the Runaway Groom/Blushing Groom sire line.
