South Beach Sandy, 2008, 16.3, Bay Gelding

The amazing, very special, and much loved war horse Sandy is ready to retire, still sound and happy to work, and looking forward to bringing as much joy to his new person as he has brought to his racing connections.   South Beach Sandy has been a hardworking, successful race horse earning over $300,000 in his racing career, with an amazing 12 wins, 25 seconds, and 16 thirds.  WOW — what a heart this athlete has!  To prove his durability and soundness, he has had a very successful year on the track in 2018, garnering three more wins. He is oh so deserving of a retirement where he will be pampered, appreciated, and just as successful in a different discipline.  He was all about the peppermints during our photo shoot as we admired his big frame and elegant intelligent presence.  He was very polite and respectful of his handler and never put a foot out of place. We love love love these war horses and can’t encourage shoppers enough to consider these horses.  They have seen and done it all.  They are durable, made of steel and have taken care of themselves for many years.  These horses are intelligent, hardworking, and big hearted beyond measure.  Sandy is sound, has no vices and his handler reported he is good to work around and ride. For his jog video he showed that he is a good mover with a nice flat kneed trot with good reach from the shoulders and good engagement from behind. We know whoever ends up with this gorgeous boy will be oh so happy.  This impressive war horse has a pedigree full of stout lines coveted in the sporting/jumping world. His sire Aggadan has Northern Dancer, Never Bend, Cyane and Honest Pleasure in his pedigree.  Sandy’s dam is by Real Quiet, from the Quiet American branch of the Fappiano line, and out of a mare by Kingmambo, with In Reality and Majestic Prince in her pedigree.  He is a fabulous candidate for the war horse award that the RRP gives, and we would love to see him strut his stuff in a new discipline at the 2019 RRP!
