Spendathon, 2015 17.2h bay gelding

A gentle giant, Spendathon is a sweet, intelligent, sound and very big boy who will be stunning when he fills out his leggy huge frame.  He just hasn’t shown enough racing talent to persist, especially when he has such unlimited and exciting potential for a career in sporting disciplines such as eventing, jumping and dressage. He has had 12 starts, and while he has a couple of seconds and a third, a win has proved elusive.  He is built uphill, and has a massive shoulder and chest, and his neck ties in well to his shoulder.  His legs are tight and clean. His trainer says he is a kind horse who is very good to work with and is without vices, and that he likes to look out of his stall and follow what is going on around him.  We watched him stand like a perfect gentleman in his stall as his trainer groomed him for his photo session. She says he can be strong and forward because he is such a big young horse, and even though he never does anything wrong while being ridden,  he will be best suited for an experienced rider who knows how to let a young horse develop and mature and learn his new job without rushing him. For his jog video Spendathon showed beautiful movement, with light suspension and good reach.  He is by Simmard, who is a son of Dixieland Band out of a Spectacular Bid mare. Simmard was a stakes winner running long distances on the turf, and that often translates well to galloping cross-country in an eventing course. Spendathon’s dam, Stop the Spending, is by Pomeroy, a grandson of Danzig, out of a Two Punch mare.  This is an excellent sport horse pedigree. Spendathon is an exciting prospect with upper level potential for eventing, show hunters,, or dressage.
