Tactical Pal, 2011 16h chestnut gelding

This handsome horse won our hearts with his kind and intelligent eye, his balanced build, and his beautiful light and rhythmic movement. He strikes us as an excellent show hunter or eventing or dressage prospect. Don’t let his lack of chrome deter you — once he fills out from the track and is remuscled and develops a top line, we think he will be a show ring star.  We photographed Tactical Cat only a two days after he ran second in a race, so the dried poultice on his legs was standard post-race care. The fact that he had just raced, and still moved so well, relaxed and light and balanced, was particularly impressive to us. The lack of post-race stiffness or any other ill effects demonstrates that he is a fundamentally sound and well balanced horse. His trainer says he is a good boy, sound, and has never had any issues.  Tactical Cat has a remarkable record of 29 in the money finishes in 57 starts, with 5 wins, and 12 seconds and 12 thirds.  This record shows his consistency, heart, and great work ethic.  He has been less successful this year than in the past, so his trainer would like to retire him and find him a great new home before the end of the current Finger Lakes meet.  He is by One Nice Cat, a son of Storm Cat out of champion mare Jewel Princess.  Secretariat, Graustark, and Ribot are prominent names in his sire line.  His dam is a granddaughter of Forty NIner and In Reality.  Lots of good stout jumping lines in his pedigree.
