Texas Zip, 2011 16.1 ch gelding

Here is a would-be track pony, a solid citizen who does everything right, offered for an off track home because he isn’t getting enough work on the track. He needs and wants a consistent job! Zip was given to his current owner/trainer by his former trainer when he last raced at Presque Isle for the express purpose of being a track pony. He did his job, and he did it well, but his new owner would like to see him transition into a new life where he gets consistent work. Zip had some recent hoof work and is currently barefoot, save for one. He had been trimmed short at Presque Isle and his Finger Lakes connection utilized some new technique to give him front shoes utilizing casting material that would allow him to have shoes without nailing into a thin hoof wall. She can give a much more illuminating explanation of what that entailed. He is described as sound and without vices although he did not travel without a hitch with his current barefoot situation with only one front hoof shod.  Zip was a good boy during his photo session with a rookie groom, on a morning that was brisk and breezy, and we consider that to be a good representation of his demeanor. He is  by City Zip out of a Whiskey Wisdom mare. He was a $170,000 yearling auction purchase and has since compiled a 42 5-4-2 race record in just about every east coast race track.  He is described as a solid citizen with no vices and we observed an A+ temperament in this solid gelding.
