This beautiful unraced filly was in race training and showing great ability when she recently bowed her tendon. Although she would be able to race once the tendon heals, her people would rather find her a great new home where her excellent potential can be brought out in a less strenuous career. Her trainer describes her as solid bodied, with a great personality, very brave, and “an attitude that will take her far.” She says that after 4 months of rest for the tendon to finish healing, Thunder Isle will be ready to start turn out and retraining, with no limitations. She is currently being hand walked, and is currently located at Belmont Park on Long Island. (Her trainer will be returning to Finger Lakes in April). Thunder Isle is very well bred for either racing or jumping, by Giant’s Causeway’s young son Stonesider, out of a stakes placed mare who has produced a graded stakes winner , Weathered, who won over $500,000, as well as two NY-bred stakes winners. Her second dam is also a multiple stakes producer. Giant’s Causeway is well known as a jump sire, and we have placed several Stonesider offspring who are all beautiful movers and showing jumping aptitude as well. With her pedigree, breeding for racing or for sport horses is also an option. For the right person who is patient and has the experience to finish her rehab, Thunder Isle presents a golden opportunity to get a young horse with unlimited potential.
The photos were provided by the trainer; it has been too cold and icy to take her outside of the barn for a full photo set. Once the weather moderates, they will try to provide us with more photos. They are also able to ship her to her new home.
