Ultimateenticement, 2015 16.1 dk bay gelding – retained for racing

For those of us who are suckers for plain dark bays (raises hand), Ultimate will entice for so many reasons. His handler was very complimentary of his temperament and told us that he is a very good boy, easy to work around and without vices. He was certainly quiet and polite on the morning that we met him and impressed us as being an unflappable boy with a lot of miles and experience under his girth, in spite of his youth. His racing career has been intriguing for the face that he made his debut at Golden Gate in California, and then shipped to Saratoga where he won and ran second. His most recent win was at Charlestown,  and he has had modest results now that he is running at Finger Lakes, so the owner prefers not to keep him to try again next year. Ultimate is by Drosselmeyer, a multiple graded stakes winner who went to the breeding shed after winning the 2011 Breeder’s Cup Classic, so there are some bragging rights in telling your friends that your new boy’s daddy won the Classic! Ultimate is being retired after a 30 3-4-1 finish career. He is reported to be sound and he showed lovely movement at the jog and walk. His trainer is confident that he could ultimately be a great kid mount or be incorporated into a lesson program because of his stellar temperament. The meet is ending soon and these horses will have to be off the track in just a few short weeks so act fast. All of the volunteers are happy to help if you need a guide around the backside or to answer questions about the process of buying and vetting, but questions about individual horses should be directed to the contact person in the listing.
