Unchained Joy, 2015, 16.2 h, dark bay filly

“RRP Deluxe” alert! This super fancy filly was a volunteer favorite; we believe she has amazing sport potential! We liked her keen and curious expression, the heart shaped star on her feminine face, her arched neck, and her solid and deep body. We observed solid underpinning and clean legs. Her handler told us that she is sound, sensible, and “super athletic” but that she has no try in the afternoon. She is lightly raced with 8 starts but only has a single win to her credit. Her gallop boy (old enough to be a card-carrying AARP member) adores her and we heard a great story about how he once ‘trail rode’ her all over the backside in search of some Benadryl after he’d been stung in the lip by a bee! Already fans, we were even more impressed by her big, lofty movement; a huge over-reaching walk and freely forward trot with spring, suspension and engagement from behind as she jogged on a loose lead. This big filly is the whole package and you could, as her handler suggests, “knock her in any direction” and be wildly (and very stylishly) competitive. Joy is by Shackleford (with Storm Cat, Unbridled/ Galliano, Lear Fan/ Roberto influences) out of a Smart Strike mare. Gorgeous, quiet, lightly raced young prospects are placing fast, so be sure to call quickly on this one!
