Vicky’s Secret, 2012 15.3h bay mare

With her pretty looks, flashy blaze, lovely balanced conformation, sweet temperament, and nice movement, Vicky’s Secret strikes us as an enticing show hunter or dressage or sport horse prospect. Her trainer told us she is sound, very nice to work with, ride, and handle. As he put it, “she is the whole great package, everything about her is so nice.” Her legs looked clean, and she showed off an eye-catching toe pointing trot. She has 29 starts, and three wins, and she is proving not as competitive in the tougher conditions she must now race in.  The owner thinks she has great broodmare potential since her third dam is a multiple graded stakes producer including two Grade 1 stakes winners on the turf, so he has insisted on the high price.  She has a very turf oriented pedigree filled with sire lines much coveted in the jumping/sport horse world. She is by Sligo Bay, a son of Sadler’s Wells out of a Halo mare.  Her dam is by Royal Academy, a Nijinsky son who won the Breeder’s Cup Mile on the turf, and her dam is out of a mare by Relaunch from the In Reality sire line.  This pedigree strongly suggests jumping ability and turf oriented stamina.  This very pretty lovely mover could be worth so much more once retrained for a new discipline.
