As if this sweet nearly black filly’s registered name isn’t cute enough for you, her barn nickname is “Moostash” because she has a white mark on her upper lip that looks like she is sporting a moustache! (You can slightly see it in the photo of her face.) The trainer says that Moostash is as sweet as can be, and also sound and clean legged with no vices.  But she is bred for turf, does not seem to care for the dirt track at Finger Lakes, and in her workouts she is not showing enough speed to warrant shipping her somewhere to try the turf.  (But, hint hint….. eventing cross-country and stadium are on the turf!) She had one race last November, and has several published workouts this summer, so she is fully eligible for the 2021 RRP.  In the video the trainer sent us, Moostash is perfectly behaved, alert, and displays a lovely light, flowing and balanced trot. Based on her pedigree, we think this girl has unlimited potential for eventing or in the show hunter ring. Her sire is Heavy Breathing, who is a full brother to Frost Giant, from the Giant’s Causeway and Gone West sire lines.  We have placed a few Heavy Breathing offspring in the past couple of years, and the people who have them tell us MORE PLEASE!!! They have great brains, learn quickly, are quiet and sensible, lovely movers, and very good jumpers.  One of them is succeeding with a junior rider at the top levels of hunter shows in Ontario; two others that we get updates on are quickly moving up the levels in eventing. Yankee Noodledandy’s dam is Nickerdoodle, who is by Hat Trick, a son of Sunday Silence. More than Ready also appears on her dam’s side, which brings in another cross of Halo.
